FAQ

What is sunshine and how does it work?

Sunshine is a Mediterranean eatery located on James Street, Brisbane.

At Sunshine our restaurant quality food is priced per 100g, similar to a deli, allowing you to order as little or as much as you like and limiting food wastage. Find out more info about our weighing system and sustainability commitment below.

Our menu of hot and cold Mediterranean dishes span a wide range of dietary requirements with amply vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free options also catered for.

This is good food, to feel good about.

Can I Dine in or Take-away?

Both! Dine in our alfresco courtyard directly opposite The Calile Hotel.

Take-away to enjoy Sunshine anywhere you like – be it at your next get-together, at work or picnicking in the park.

Please note that we are an informal eatery, so we are unable to take reservations or accept calls to order take-away.

Can I order online?

You can order online delivery via Uber Eats.

If you are picking up, there is no need to order online – all of our food is ready to go – all you need to do is come in, select what you want and you will be on your way within minutes.

Can I cater my event?

Our single dishes are perfect for your next event.

For groups of nine guests or less purchase separate bowls of your Sunshine favourites in-store or via Uber Eats. There three sizes available for a flat rate (excluding meat dishes):

Small single dish $25
Regular single dish $35
Large single dish $35

Catering for 10 guests or more can be ordered here with in-store pick up or delivery to select suburbs.

How does the pay-by-weight system work?

All of our food is priced by weight per 100g, meaning you are not locked in to predetermined sizes and that you are in control of exactly how much you order.

With this system, we follow strict and auditable guidelines to ensure you only ever pay for what you order. The weight of our plates and takeaway containers are automatically deducted by our scales, and our equipment is calibrated regularly and certified compliant by the National Measurements Institute (NMI).

Feel free to ask our management staff if you have any questions about how it works.

Is it sustainable?

Sustainability is important to us. Our produce is ethically sourced through local, sustainable, and small-scale farming practices, and we divert our food waste to be commercially composted.

Additionally, our packaging has been selected with sustainability in mind. Plastic items are made from plants rather than oil, and each item is either recyclable, home compostable, commercially compostable or a combination of each.

We ask that our customers consume consciously – to only order as much as you will eat to limit food waste. We also encourage you to drop used take-away containers, cutlery and cups back to us to be composted.

Can I pay cash?

We are a cashless venue and only accept card and contactless payments.
